Substance Abuse
This course introduces participants to a range of current issues regarding the relationship between substance abuse and mental health. The psychosocial impact of a range of substances including alcohol, heroin and crack cocaine will be explored.
Course Content
- Defining dual diagnosis
- Alcohol abuse
- Illicit drug use (heroin, crack cocaine, amphetamines, cannabis)
- Substance abuse and mental health
Learning Outcomes
- You will be able to define dual diagnosis
- You will be able to describe the nature of substance abuse (e.g. effect, route, risks, etc)
- You will be able to analyse the relationship between mental health and a range of psychoactive substances
