Dermatology for Primary Care Workers
This is a single day course is suitable for anyone coming into contact with Patients with Dermatology conditions including Walk in centre Nurses, Practice Nurses and increasingly Pharmacists. Using both presentations and practicable exercises, the most common presenting complaints will be explored..
Course Content
- Basic skin anatomy .Consultation skills and differential diagnosis in dermatology. Bacterial, Viral and Fungal conditions and their treatment. Diagnosis and management of Chronic skin conditions. Skin Parasites .Presentations of Dermatological emergencies.
- Treatment of Moles, Warts etc. What and when to prescribe.
Learning Outcomes
- You will be able to describe common Dermatological complaints affecting adults and children.
- You will be able to appraise various treatment options for these conditions complaints and prescribe for minor conditions providing this is within your competence.
- You will be able to describe circumstances that require referral to allied agencies / health care professionals
